In response to media enquiries on a Nepalese organisation's public procession to call for a fair investigation into a Police open fire case in Hung Hom on March 17, Police today said they attach importance to all open fire cases resulting in death, irrespective of the deceased's racial background.

All cases will be thoroughly investigated in a fair, just and impartial manner with a full and detailed report submitted to the coroner's court, to help the Coroner decide whether an inquest is required.

Police also attach importance to developing constructive long-term relationships with ethnic minorities. Officers regularly pay visits to and often hold meetings and seminars with them to promote their awareness of, and participation in, crime prevention.
