Civil justice reform set for April 2
*

The Civil Justice (Miscellaneous Amendments) Ordinance 2008 will come into operation on April 2, implementing civil justice reform.

The commencement notice, and the Court of Final Appeal Fees (Amendment) Rules 2009 and the District Court Civil Procedure (Fees) (Amendment) Rules 2009, were gazetted today and will be tabled at the Legislative Council on February 4.

LegCo enacted the main reform package's law amendments in January and seven sets of subsidiary legislation in July.

The two fees amendments have consequential changes seeking to follow certain features on taxation and fee items under the new Rules of High Court and the Rules of District Court. They have been accepted and enacted by LegCo under the reform.
