Hong Kong and Mainland anti-corruption chiefs met in Beijing yesterday to exchange experience and foster closer ties.
Independent Commission Against Corruption Commissioner Dr Timothy Tong and the procurator general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate Cao Jianming discussed the latest social and economic developments.
Since the establishment of the Mutual Case Assistance Scheme both sides have interviewed more than 1,600 witnesses in corruption cases.
Dr Tong said the ICAC will enhance prevention efforts for government bodies involved in recent measures to boost the economy, including the accelerated implementation of infrastructure projects and the $100 billion Special Loan Guarantee Scheme for small and medium enterprises.
A special group has been formed to advise government departments on recruitment, purchasing and project management for various works projects and the administration of funding schemes.
Dr Tong and the Hong Kong delegation also met with the vice minister of the Ministry of Supervision Yao Zengke to discuss ways to strengthen co-operation on preventive education between Hong Kong, Macau and the Mainland.
He also visited the Hong Kong & Macau Affairs Office and the National People's Congress Standing Committee's Legislative Affairs Commission.
