Customs arrest 4, seize discs worth $30m
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers have arrested four Mainlanders and seized about 2 million unmanifested CDs and VCDs worth about $30 million from a local fishing vessel off Beaufort Island.

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, a Customs patrol launch stopped and searched the vessel which was leaving for the Mainland. The unmanifested goods were found in a false compartment underneath the kitchen.

Four men aged 32 to 55, including the captain and three crewmen, were arrested. The discs seized were not copyright-infringing copies.
