Thirteen bank staff have been arrested for corruption in relation to applications for machinery hire-purchase loans.

Responding to press inquiries, the Independent Commission Against Corruption today confirmed 10 marketing staff and three credit officers were arrested in November and have been released on bail as the investigation continues.

A corruption complaint was received late last year alleging the arrestees accepted advantages from machine dealers and loan applicants for facilitating the loan applications. They also allegedly connived at falsifying loan support documents, including quotations, sale and purchase documents, and invoices for the machines.

The purported loans approved by a bank to the applicants totalled $50 million, part of which has been repaid.
