ICAC

Two Mexican restaurant chefs have been jailed six months by Eastern Magistracy for accepting bribes from a frozen food supplier.

Tam Chi-hung, 32, head chef of Caramba Mexican Cantina, and Chan Man-wai, 47, executive chef of Coyote Bar & Grill, each pleaded guilty to one count of an agent accepting an advantage.

Tam and Chan were responsible for ordering food with suppliers for their restaurants. Both received rebates from Gordon Chau of Candie's Food Supplies.

Meanwhile, two other chefs admitted in Eastern Magistracy today accepting rebates for ordering food.

Lai Hing-min, 38, head chef of Que Pasa Tequila Bar & Cantina, pleaded guilty to one count of an agent accepting an advantage, while Sin Yiu-ki, 32, head chef of BB's Bistro, admitted two similar offences. They also received rebates from Candie's Food Supplies.

They have been remanded in custody until they reappear in court November 21 for sentencing.
