Two men have been arrested for attempting to smuggle $43 million worth of goods to the Mainland.

Customs' investigations found that a syndicate was involved in smuggling high-valued goods to Mainland China, using plastic waste and metal scraps to camouflage them.

At about 11pm on October 27, officers stopped a river trade vessel which was heading for Nanhai in the waters off Black Point and found a large quantity of unmanifested cargo in five containers onboard.

The goods seized included 16,300 LCD panels, 2,400 laptop computers and 24 tonnes of resin.

Officers then raided a cargo yard in Yuen Long and a waste recycling yard in Man Kam To. They seized a large quantity of notebook computers and arrested two men, aged 32 and 62, in Yuen Long.
