Mainlander jailed for immigration scam
*
Immigration Department

Sha Tin Magistracy has jailed a Mainlander 16 months for using an illicit one-way permit.

Wu Yichao, 36, was the adopted son of a Hong Kong resident. To apply for a one-way permit from Mainland authorities to settle in Hong Kong he falsely claimed he was the natural son.

In August 2001 Wu was granted permanent stay in Hong Kong on the strength of the one-way permit.

He pleaded guilty to one count of using an unlawfully obtained travel document on October 24.
