548 tickets issued in traffic day blitz

Police have issued 548 fixed-penalty tickets and 27 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during a crackdown on Hong Kong Island.

 

About 170 officers were sent to enforce traffic laws at accident blackspots.

 

They issued 362 fixed-penalty tickets for illegal parking and 186 for other traffic offences. They gave verbal warnings to 30 pedestrians and 241 drivers for committing minor traffic offences.

 

There were 2,354 traffic accidents on Hong Kong Island from January to September this year.
