Knife-wielding man shot, arrested

*
Hong Kong Police

Police have shot and arrested a knife-wielding man for attempted wounding in Tsing Yi.

Officers patrolling outside Wang Ching House in Cheung Wang Estate found the 27-year-old acting suspiciously about 9.30am today. When they tried to intercept him he allegedly tried to attack the officers with a fruit knife and then fled towards Cheung Hang Estate.

Believing he might threaten the safety of a group of elderly women in a sitting-out area near Hang Yip House an officer fired two shots at the culprit when he ignored warnings.

He was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left buttock.

Witnesses should call investigating officers on 2410 2363 or Tsing Yi Police Station on 2431 9123.
