Gov't cautions HK residents in Thailand
*

The Security Bureau today reminded Hong Kong residents travelling to Thailand to pay attention to personal safety, keep themselves up to date on developments there and avoid large gatherings or demonstrations.

Anyone needing assistance in Thailand can contact the local Chinese Embassy, or call the Hong Kong Immigration Department's 24-hour hotline, (852)1868.

Telephone numbers and addresses of the Chinese Embassies/Consulates-General overseas can be obtained by calling the hotline or (852) 2824 6111.

The government will continue to monitor the situation.

Thailand's Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej this morning declared a state of emergency in the capital Bangkok.
