Jail sentence for assaulting public officer
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts today sentenced a man to a month's jail for assaulting a public officer, and another month for obstructing public officers in performing their duties.

The jail terms will run concurrently.

The man attacked a Food & Environmental Hygiene Department officer while he was carrying out an operation against illegal hawking on Mei Tin Road in Sha Tin on April 22.

The department reminds people that violence against public officers carries legal consequences, and urges people to co-operate with law-enforcement officers.
