A 20-member Immigration Department delegation will start an eight-day study programme at Beijing Gong An University on May 4.
The delegation will be headed by Acting Assistant Principal Immigration Officer William Fung and comprise a chief immigration officer, a senior immigration officer, 10 immigration officers, a chief immigration assistant, five senior immigration assistants and an immigration assistant.
The officers will attend lectures on subjects including the management of Mainland residents travelling abroad, the management of Mainland residents travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau, the Mainland legal system, police system and the organisational structure of the Gong An, criminal psychology and Chinese culture. The delegation will also visit Nanjing.
Director of Immigration Simon Peh said the study programme will offer officers a good opportunity to boost their understanding of their Mainland counterparts' operations and help establish a firmer and closer working connection with them.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong on May 11.
