Alert issued on fraudulent website
*
Monetary Authority

The Monetary Authority has issued an alert about an email purporting to be sent from the Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, which is connected to a fraudulent website similar to the bank's Internet banking logon webpage.

The email embedded a hyperlink connected to a fraudulent website and asks customers verify their account information by entering their Internet banking account's user name and password.

The bank has clarified it has no connection with the fraudulent website and has reported the case to Police. It added it does not send emails asking customers to provide passwords or verify account information online.

Anyone who has provided their personal information to the bogus website, or who has conducted financial transactions through it, should call Police on 2860 5012 and the bank on 2748 3322.
