The District Court has jailed four women for up to four years for conspiracy to defraud.

The court heard Police saw two men and four women trying to swindle a 66-year-old woman in Hung Hom on September 18. Two women pretending to be looking for a ritual master approached the victim for help. The third woman then claimed to be the master's granddaughter. They said the victim's son had bad fortune and proposed she to take out all her valuables for blessing.

Police arrested the three women and another woman and two men who acted as lookouts. All were Mainlanders. They were charged with conspiracy to defraud. The two men were acquitted and deported to the Mainland today while the four women aged 35 to 37 were convicted.
