The Immigration Department is studying ways to disseminate checkpoint traffic information through the media and Internet, Deputy Director of Immigration Peh Yun-lu says.

Speaking on a radio talk show today Mr Peh said about 8.4 million people are expected to travel in and out of Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year holiday and the estimation has taken the impact of the Mainland snowfalls into account.

The department will closely monitor the weather and transportation situation on the Mainland for staff arrangements.
