A fake marriage arranger has been jailed two years and four months by the District Court.
Li Yan-yin, 31, pleaded guilty to four counts of conspiracy to defraud. He entered into a bogus marriage with a Mainlander and arranged for Ngai Pak-keung and two other Hong Kong residents to have fake marriages with three Mainlanders.
Ngai, 53, pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to defraud and was jailed for 18 months. Immigration officers arrested him and two other Hong Kong residents in February and March last year. They admitted Li arranged their marriages so the Mainlanders could apply for 90-day visit endorsements to Hong Kong.
Li was later arrested. He has been involved in arranging bogus marriages for money since 2005 and placed marriage advertisements in newspapers.
