Police have arrested a 50-year-old goods vehicle driver for dangerous driving causing death, following a North Point traffic accident which killed an 84-year-old woman.

At about 12.30pm today, the medium goods vehicle struck the woman as she was crossing Java Road. She was taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead.

Investigations by Hong Kong Island's special traffic investigation team are proceeding. People who have information to offer should call 3106 8849 or 3106 8800.
