Peaceful election activites urged
*

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee has called for calm, restrained and respectful electioneering activities in the run-up to the December 2 Legislative Council by-election, saying Police will not tolerate violence or unruly behaviour.

He told reporters today the Government and the Electoral Affairs Commission will ensure the Legislative Council Hong Kong Island Geographical Constituency By-election will be peaceful, fair and open.

He said the Government is concerned about recent reports of election-related violence, and Police will deploy sufficient resources to maintain law and order.

"We will spare no efforts in maintaining our good law and order. We will not tolerate any act of violence or any breach of peace. Police will take proper action," Mr Lee said.
