Customs has cracked three goods-smuggling cases in a month, seizing $29 million worth of goods including electronic products and optical discs, and arresting 22 men.

A newly established anti-smuggling strategic action force was responsible for the crackdown. It  pools resources from the Intelligence Bureau, Special Task Force and Marine Enforcement Group. It aims to strengthen Customs enforcement against smuggling activities with a more strategic approach, and to mount more effective intelligence-led operations.

Customs officers this morning seized $7 million worth of goods, including electronic products, and arrested nine men in Siu Lam.

On November 21, they netted $10 million worth of optical discs and arrested six men in Lau Fau Shan.

They also arrested seven men suspected to be involved in the smuggling of $12 million in electronic products in Tuen Mun on October 24.
