9 arrested for pirated disc sale
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs has closed a Sham Shui Po optical-disc replicating centre and raided seven mobile hawker stalls selling pirated discs, seizing 14 optical-disc duplicating machines and 18,000 pirated and obscene discs worth $430,000. Officers arrested nine people.

The raids took place from October 16 to 19. Eight men and a woman, aged 17 to 56, were arrested. The replicating centre is believed to be involved in the supply of pirated and obscene optical discs to some of the raided hawker stalls and other retail black spots.
