Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide case in Tin Shui Wai involving a 36-year-old woman, a 12-year-old girl, and a 9-year-old boy.

About 4am today, Police received a report that the three people were lying on the ground outside Yiu Fung House in Tin Yiu Estate. They were confirmed dead by ambulancemen at the scene.

Initial investigations revealed that they had fallen from a flat in Yiu Fung House. The girl's hands and legs and the boy's hands were tied with rope.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death.

Practical assistance

The Social Welfare Department has offered help to the family and will provide counselling services to the affected residents and the victims' classmates.

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung has expressed his sadness over the tragedy and conveyed his condolences to the concerned family.

He said the Government will do its best to enhance support services for family with problems. As many cases involve families in Tin Shui Wai, it will consider deploying more staff to help residents in the district. The Social Welfare Department's hotline services will also be strengthened.

Mr Cheung urged people with personal or family problems to seek help and should avoid doing anything to hurt themselves or their family members.
