A road safety campaign highlighting drink driving will be held September 28 to October 2.
Police officers will invite members of the public to take voluntary breath tests and will distribute publicity leaflets in bar areas. Strict enforcement action will also be taken against offenders.
There were 9,917 traffic accidents in the first eight months, an increase of 94 cases when compared with the same period last year. Among them, 72 involved drink driving.
