A 33-year-old man has been jailed 18 months by Eastern Magistracy for passing counterfeit banknotes, while his 34-year-old Vietnamese wife received an 18-month sentence, suspended for three years.

On March 27 he went to a Kowloon Bay bank to deposit 10 $1,000 banknotes into his wife's account. The teller found the notes to be suspicious and called Police. He was arrested at the bank and his wife was arrested when she visited Sau Mau Ping Police Station to him.

They were charged with conspiracy to pass counterfeit banknotes.
