Fake phones: Mobile phones and accessories are seized from a Tsim Sha Tsui shop.

Customs officers have shut down a counterfeit mobile phone syndicate, seizing $450,000-worth of phones and accessories.

They raided a Tsim Sha Tsui shop last night and seized 600 phones, 600 chargers, 4,100 batteries, 100 phone shells and 100 pairs of earphones.

Officers also found a batch of used mobile phone accessories for old models, brand name product stickers, user manuals and packaging materials.

Customs believe the syndicate tried to repackage the used phones and accessories for sale as new products. It planned to sell the goods in Africa and South Asia, and some in Hong Kong.
