7 arrested in record cocaine seizure
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers have made a record seizure of 160kg of high-grade cocaine worth $110 million and arrested five men and two women aged 23 to 51.

Officers examined a container vessel from Panama at Kwai Chung Customhouse on July 24 and searched two containers declared to be carrying "purified water".

With the help of X-ray equipment and Customs drug-detector dogs, the officers found high-grade cocaine concealed inside 80 wooden pallets on which bottles of purified water were placed.

The drugs were destined for places outside Hong Kong, Customs said.
