Police have received 30 Hong Kong residents arrested on the Mainland for drug abuse and repatriated by the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau.

Aged 20 to 52, they were handed to Police via the Huanggang boundary checkpoint. The Social Welfare Department will arrange rehabilitation services for them.

Police said the repatriation arrangement spreads the anti-drug message to Hong Kong residents, reiterating that it is an offence to abuse drugs in Hong Kong and on the Mainland. Hong Kong people arrested for drug offences on the Mainland are detained for 15 days, face a RMB2,000-fine and get a criminal record.

Police pay close attention to drug abuse and will tackle cross-boundary cases. Hong Kong people are urged not to abuse drugs when visiting entertainment premises on the Mainland.
