Suitcase corpse case classified as murder

*
Hong Kong Police

Police have reclassified as homicide a case in which a body was discovered inside a suitcase inside a manhole in Stanley on Monday.

At about 7pm, a caretaker reported to Police that an odd smell was emanating from the manhole near a catchment on Wong Ma Kok Road. Police then discovered the badly decomposed body.

The identity is not yet established, but they believe it to be that of a woman of medium build. A post mortem conducted today did not determine her cause of death. Further toxicological examinations are underway.

The Hong Kong Island Regional Crime Unit is investigating.
