A road-safety campaign highlighting the dangers of drink driving will be held from tomorrow to May 2.
People in bar areas will be invited to take voluntary breath tests and officers will hand out leaflets.
Police will take strict enforcement action against people who drink and drive.
There were 3,529 traffic accidents in the first three months of this year, 61 more than the same period last year. Of them, 27 involved drink driving - five cases more than the same period last year.
