Three regulations have been gazetted to implement renewed sanctions against Cote d'Ivoire and Liberia.
The Commerce, Industry & Technology Bureau said the United Nations Sanctions (Cote d'Ivoire) Regulation 2007 renews sanctions against Cote d'Ivoire imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 1727.
The sanctions against the country are on supply of arms and related material; provision of advice, assistance and training related to military activities; importation of rough diamonds; financial sanctions and a travel ban.
With enactment of the 2007 Regulation, the UN Sanctions (Cote d'Ivoire) Regulation 2006 (Cap. 537AA) is repealed on the same date.
The UN Sanctions (Liberia) Regulation 2005 (Amendment) Regulation 2007 implements sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council under Resolution 1731.
It renews the sanctions against Liberia on the supplies of arms and related materials; provision of technical training or assistance; importation of rough diamonds and a travel ban.
