A Hong Kong resident and a Mainlander who entered bogus marriages have been jailed for up to 14 months by Sha Tin Magistracy.

Tse Yuk-wah, 22, was convicted of two counts of conspiracy to defraud and was jailed for 14 months. Her bogus husband, 27-year-old Mainlander Yang Yuchun was convicted of one count of conspiracy to defraud and one count of making false representation to an Immigration officer. He was given 12 months jail.

On January 21, Yang was stopped at Sha Tau Kok checkpoint and he later admitted he had contracted a bogus marriage with Tse for 55,000 reminbi to obtain a 90-day visa so he could work in Hong Kong.
