527 tickets issued on HK Island traffic day

Police have issued 527 fixed-penalty tickets and 19 summonses to traffic offenders in a two-day operation on Hong Kong Island.

 

The operation concluded at 7pm today and saw 370 fixed-penalty tickets issued for illegal parking and 157 for other traffic offences. Sixty-two pedestrians and 355 drivers were cautioned for minor traffic offences. Pamphlets and leaflets on road safety were also handed out.

 

There were 491 traffic accidents involving casualties on Hong Kong Island in January, with 58.7% related to pedestrian negligence.
