Teams set to crack down on illegal hawking
*
Housing Department

The Housing Department is using four special squads to guard against illegal hawking in public rental housing estates over the Lunar New Year holidays, when unlicensed hawkers are usually more active.

The teams, with a total of 40 members, will patrol public rental housing estates from tomorrow through Tuesday.

They will patrol black spots in districts such as Upper and Lower Wong Tai Sin Estates near Wong Tai Sin Temple and Sun Chui Estate near Che Kung Miu in Sha Tin, Acting Assistant Director of Housing Ma Kam-chuen said.

Mr Ma said that estate management staff would also be patrolling more frequently, to keep unauthorised parking in check during the festive season.

He warned that any vehicles found parking in estates' common areas without permission would be impounded and their owners subject to a fine of $320.
