Peter Yam presents awards to young people
Outstanding youths: Deputy Commissioner of Police Peter Yam presents the Hong Kong Award for Young People.

Forty-four Police officers and 318 Junior Police Call members have received Hong Kong Award for Young People bronze prizes for their enthusiasm and outstanding performance.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Peter Yam said at the award presentation ceremony today that in the award qualifying process, they learned the importance of team work, knew more about self-control and communication, and acquired many other skills.

"These laid the foundation for your future development. It is not an easy task to get a bronze award. It shows that you did work with great determination last year to complete the activities specified," he said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Support) Blaine Hoggard presented Certificates of Appreciation to 133 instructors, including 70 Police officers, in recognition of their commitment and dedication.

The award scheme builds young people's confidence and develops their potential. Participants aged 14 to 25 will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals at different stages after completing specified activities in skills, services, expeditions and physical recreation categories.
