The first international experience sharing session on anti-bookmaking enforcement by Hong Kong, Guangdong, Shenzhen, Macau, Singaporean and Malaysian authorities has successfully concluded.
The two-day sharing session provided a unique opportunity for officers to exchange experiences and strategies in tackling illegal bookmaking activities, particularly on soccer.
More than 100 officers from Hong Kong and 12 from the other jurisdictions took part. They shared their views on collaboration in conducting joint operations.
Closing the event today, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ng Sai-kuen said the two-day intensive programme was the first of its kind among Asian law enforcement agencies, an proved to be very useful and constructive.
He said exchanges can enhance officers' understanding of the problem and strengthen the effectiveness of law enforcement action.
The session concluded that the criminal investigation departments of the six places will continue co-operate closely, particularly in terms of intelligence and expertise exchange, investigation support, and joint operations.
