Kids' website launched to promote honesty

Website launching ceremony
Positive values: ICAC's Director of Community Relations Erika Hui (third from right) and other guests at the website launch.

The ICAC has today launched an interactive website, Kidsland, to promote positive values such as integrity and honesty among children.

Positive values including honesty, fairness and a law-abiding spirit are to be promulgated through comic strips, Gee-dor-dor cartoons, e-games and online competitions.

The website also introduces the history of the ICAC and the definition of corruption through a lively column.

There is a corner for parents to share their experiences and play games with their children.

Speaking at the website inauguration today, ICAC's Director of Community Relations Erika Hui said the commission has placed much emphasis on fostering positive values among young people as part of the community education efforts.

In 2000, the ICAC launched a website "Teensland" designed for young people aged 13 to 17, which now registers more than 100,000 average hits daily.

In the light of a growing number of young Internet surfers and the popularity of "Teensland", Mrs Hui said the ICAC developed a dedicated website, "Kidsland", for children aged six to 12.

The commission will also co-organise activities with primary schools for students to promote anti-corruption messages, Mrs Hui added.
