A public rental housing applicant has been fined $20,000 at Kwun Tong Magistracy for making false statements in his application.

The court heard although the defendant was re-married, he declared on his application he was divorced. He also made a false statement on his average monthly income.

Public rental housing applicants must provide accurate information. The Housing Department investigates suspicious cases and prosecutes if necessary.
