Crime conference: Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee exchanges views with Yuen Long District Fight Crime Committee members.

In tackling domestic voilence, Police will take resolute and prompt action to make arrests if there is evidence suggesting a crime has been committed, Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says.

Attending the Yuen Long District Fight Crime Committee meeting today, Mr Lee said the Government has been seriously adopting a "multi-disciplinary collaboration" approach to deal with domestic violence, which has become a matter of public concern.

"Police have been refining the procedures for handling domestic violence cases and have also stepped up communication with the Social Welfare Department on case referrals and district co-ordination, with the aim of enhancing professionalism and efficiency in providing prompt and appropriate assistance to affected families," he said.

He also exchanged views with committee members on other issues, including juvenile crime and prostitution.

He thanked members for their efforts in joining non-governmental organisations to arrange family support programmes.
