Police step up action against bad drivers

Hong Kong Police

Police will mount a three-week city-wide operation starting tomorrow to deter motorists from driving badly.

It will target various offences including speeding, dangerous or careless driving, failing to comply with traffic signals and failing to wear seatbelts.

Police will work hard to track down road users who have little regard for their own safety as well as that of other people, especially those engaged in illegal road racing.

The stringent enforcement action is also expected to enhance public awareness of road safety.

Traffic accidents involving casualties amounted to 10,991 in the first three quarters this year, a 1.5% decrease compared with the same period last year.
