Justice Robert Tang has been appointed Vice-President of the Court of Appeal from November 1.
Justice Tang was born in Shanghai in 1947 and was called to the English Bar in 1969 (Gray's Inn) and the Hong Kong Bar in 1970 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1986. He was in private practice from 1970 to 2004.
He was called to the Bar of the State of Victoria, Australia, in 1984. He was called to the Bar of the State of New York, US, in 1986 and was admitted as Barrister in Singapore in 1992. He was appointed Judge of the Court of First Instance in 2004 and Justice of Appeal of the Court of Appeal in 2005.
