Campaign aims to boost students' road safety

Police will launch a three-week campaign tomorrow to promote school transport safety tie in with the new school year.

 

Officers from Police Road Safety Teams will distribute leaflets to school bus and nanny van drivers, teachers and parents to draw their attention to school kids' road safety. Officers will visit schools, also, to give talks on safety onboard school buses.

 

There were 25 traffic accidents involving school buses with 46 passengers injured in the first half of this year, an improvement over the same period last year. In the first half of 2005, there were 28 accidents involving 94 injuries.
