Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says there is no specific intelligence suggesting that Hong Kong will become a terrorist target.

Speaking to the press in Sydney today, he said Police will remain vigilant and maintain its level of coverage and operational readiness commensurate with the prevailing threat level, which is not high at present.

The British authorities' success in stopping the terrorist plot shows the importance of close liaison and intelligence sharing among law enforcement agencies around the world, he said, adding that Hong Kong will maintain its close global ties.

Mr Lee inspected cargo examination procedures at Port Botany, Australia's second largest container port after Port Melbourne. He also met New South Wales Minister for Police Carl Scully. He will fly to Singapore Sunday.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Dick Lee said Police have stepped up security monitoring and patrols at the airport.

Noting there is no intelligence suggesting a threat to the airport or any flights, Mr Lee said the level of terrorist threat in Hong Kong remains moderate.
