Processing of foreign domestic helpers' visas may be suspended on July 19, depending on the outcome of a Court of Appeal judgment, the Immigration Department says.
The Court of Appeal will hand down judgment on the judicial review of the reduction of the minimum allowable wage for foreign maids and the imposition of the employees retraining levy. As the Government will need time to consider the judgment's implications, visa processing may be suspended.
In non-urgent cases people should collect visas on another day. However, the department will continue accept applications for visas and extensions of stay as usual.
