The Judiciary today appointed Bebe Chu as the Judge-in-charge of the District Court Family Court from July 1.

She will be responsible for the court's administration and report to the Chief District Judge and Chief Justice.

Miss Chu started practice as a solicitor in 1977 and was appointed a District Judge in 2003.

Geoffrey Ma, Louis Tong and Edgar Cheng were appointed to the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission from July 1 for two years.

Mr Ma is the High Court Chief Judge and the ex-officio Chairman of the High Court Rules Committee, District Court Rules Committee and the Criminal Procedure Rules Committee.

A  judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, Mr Tong also sits on the Release Under Supervision Board and the Long-term Prison Sentences Review Board.

Dr Cheng is the Chinese University of Hong Kong Council Chairman. He sits on the Council for Sustainable Development and the Commission on Strategic Development.
