Correctional officer faces bribery charges

ICAC

A Correctional Services officer has been charged for soliciting and accepting advantages from a prisoner for helping him apply for early release.

Lee Yee-tak, 51, has been released on bail and will appear in Eastern Magistracy tomorrow.

The defendant is alleged to have solicited $300,000 from a Stanley Prison inmate on January 10 as a reward for helping the prisoner apply for early release.

Since then, the defendant has allegedly repeated his request, and offered to reduce the reward to $200,000.

Another charge alleges the defendant solicited $200,000 from the prisoner on January 30.

Lee was also alleged to have accepted $200,000 on February 11 from an ICAC undercover officer for the same reason.
