Pirated disc shop shut down

Customs officers have raided a shop in Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei, selling pirated optical discs. They arrested a 57-year-old man, who has been released on bail.

Officers mounted the operation yesterday and seized about 8,000 discs worth $200,000, which were mainly newly-released films.

The shop displayed genuine discs as a cover, and sold pirated discs. Potential customers were touted from the street and led to two closed compartments at the rear of the premises to purchase fake discs.
