900 pirated discs seized, 2 arrested
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers have seized about 900 pirated discs of Japanese TV dramas and two computers with a total value of about $40,000. The raid in Ap Lei Chau, also saw the arrest of a couple involved in selling pirated discs via a local Internet auction site.

Acting on a complaint, the Customs Anti-Internet Piracy Team conducted extensive investigations and succeeded in tracking down the location of the computers  in question with the help of the Internet service provider.

Customs officers yesterday arrested a 33-year-old man who was about to post parcels of pirated discs at a post office in Ap Lei Chau.

In a follow-up search at a residential address nearby, the officers seized some 900 pirated discs, packaging equipment and two computers, and arrested the man's 34-year-old wife.
