Rehabilitation pact: Commissioner of Correctional Services Pang Sung-yuen (left, seated), and Macau Prison Director Lee Kam Cheong sign the agreement at a ceremony.

Hong Kong and Macau correctional services authorities have signed a memorandum of understanding in Macau today to enhance co-operation and exchange of staff and information.

Hong Kong's Commissioner of Correctional Services Pang Sung-yuen and Macau Prison Director Lee Kam Cheong signed the agreement at a ceremony.

Mr Pang said that in line with the pact's principles, the two jurisdictions would collaborate on projects such as observational visits to each other's institutions, joint research and study, and seminars.

Since 2001, the Correctional Services Department has signed similar agreements with the correctional authorities of Canada, Singapore and South Korea.
