New milestone: Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee (left) attends the topping out ceremony of the Shenzhen Bay Port Passenger Terminal Building.

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says he is confident the Shenzhen Bay Port Passenger Terminal Building will be completed on time.

It is the Mainland's first boundary control point adopting co-location arrangements by the Hong Kong and Shenzhen authorities, and the passenger terminal building will be the largest and most symbolic structure of the new facility.

Speaking at the topping out ceremony today, Mr Lee thanked Shenzhen authorities for their co-operation in taking forward the project and their efforts in implementing the co-location arrangements. He said the ceremony not only represented the smooth completion of the core construction work, but also signified the joint efforts in completing the project.

Shenzhen Executive Vice-Mayor Liu Yingli said the works will help sustain the rapid socio-economic development of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta region, and maintain Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability.
