Police have charged a couple with murder following the death of their 10-year-old son this morning.

Shortly after 8.20pm on February 16, a 49-year-old man reported to Police that his son had collapsed at their home on Queen's Road East. Police officers found the boy who was unconscious. 

The boy was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital and later transferred to Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 3.28am today.

Initial enquiries revealed that the boy's father and his 35-year-old mother had trapped the boy inside a suitcase in their home before Police received the report. The pair, arrested in connection with the case, were charged jointly with one count of murder and will appear in the Eastern Magistrates' Courts today.
